I have strong expertise in educational publishing (secondary titles):
- I headed a team of 10 people to create in a year a 4-book science series for grades 4-8, Come Learn With Me (Lickle Publishing/K12)
- Created 11 books in an ongoing series on art and art history topics for grades 3-6, Come Look With Me (Lickle Publishing/Charlesbridge);Produced Colonial History – a 4-book history series for grades 5-8 (M.E. Sharpe)

Company Experience
Oct. 85 – Dec. 91 Rizzoli International Publications, New York, NY 10010
- As Director, Art, Design, and Production I was a key player in establishing Rizzoli as the premier illustrated book publishing house in America.
- Helped build a company strategy that allowed growth from 15 titles a year to over 100, plus reprints.
- Hired and trained my staff of seven in design and production methods, instilling high standards and an excellent team ethic.
- Operationally responsible for drawing up my department budget (of over $15 million) and ensuring adherence through strict cost control. Created the profit and loss forms to be used for the company.
- Established a world-wide network of suppliers and who could meet the quality standards I set up.
- I also worked directly with separation houses, printers, and binders in Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Italy, to make sure Rizzoli become a premier quality publisher.
- Managed several multi-lingual international co-editions and built a program that ensured accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
- Set up internal programs and communications designed to motivate staff and strengthen the company message.
April 85 – Oct. 85 The Vendome Press, New York, NY 10022
- Managing Editor. Worked on a list of international co-editions on subjects such as houses, gardens, and art, editing translations into English from French and designing the American edition.
- Established relationships with foreign publishers, managing multiple partners on some titles
- Broadened my network of publishing relationships in the USA and abroad.

While Design and Production Manager for this prestigious company
producing limited editions of classic works:
- Sourced exceptional binding methods and materials,
- Created unique papers working directly with the mills,
- Exploited rare and innovative printing methods.
- Won numerous awards for my books, and in 1984 won four of the forty prizes for best book in the National Book League’s annual ‘40 Best Books’ competition.
- As a typographic expert, I acted as an advisor to The Monotype Corporation in their changeover to digital type.
